Goal: 100 new employees in 100 days

The CoxHealth Recruitment and Retention team has set a lofty goal for the next few weeks: hire 100 hard-to-recruit employees in 100 days, beginning Oct. 1.

CoxHealth is hoping to jump start hiring for vacancies in nursing and select other areas by offering bonuses to qualified new hires. CoxHealth employees who refer qualified applicants are also eligible for the bonus. These new hires stand to receive $2,000 in bonuses. And the employees who make the referrals? They're eligible for $2,000 as well.

It's all part of a plan to meet the need for qualified staff in areas where recruiting can be a challenge - positions ranging from RNs and occupational therapists to physical therapists and pharmacists.

Full-time new hires and the employees who refer them will each receive $1,000 when the employee starts in the new position. At six months, both are eligible for a second $1,000 bonus. Part-time and PRN new-hire bonuses will be pro-rated. Pam Sutterfield, nursing recruitment specialist, says that all qualified full-time and part-time new hires will also begin their jobs with 24 hours of earned-time off, which can be taken as their new schedule permits.

Employees who would like to make a referral need only provide the prospective candidate with a 100 jobs in 100 days referral card. The candidate then places the employee's name on the application in the space provided.

Cindy Allard with Recruitment and Retention notes that qualified applicants can self-refer, and still be eligible for a bonus. Anyone with questions about the program should call 269-JOBS.

  • Nurse practitioners
  • Physician assistants
  • Occupational therapists
  • Certified occupational therapy assistants
  • Physical therapists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • CT techs
  • Pharmacists
  • Dialysis techs
  • Licensed practical nurses with dialysis experience
