CoxHealth volunteers, employee receive Gift of Time
Ralph and Retha Bowman were named 2008 Volunteers of the Year during the Gift of Time awards celebration, held today in the White River Room at Bass Pro Shops. The annual event recognizes outstanding volunteers in the Ozarks. More than 50 people were nominated this year.
The Bowmans have volunteered at CoxHealth for more than 15 years, and have spent 13 of those years working on the Lifeline program, installing and repairing the system in people's homes. Lifeline is a personal alert system that allows people to maintain an active, independent life at home.
Together the couple has worked in 2664 homes, driven more than 50,000 miles and logged nearly 17,500 service hours.
CoxHealth offers a variety of volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and interests. Call 269-4169 for more information.
CoxHealth employee Pat Haas, surgery receptionist, was also the recipient of a Gift of Time award for her work with Compassionate Friends, an organization that offers support to families following the death of a child of any age.
