A flat and well-toned abdomen is something many of us strive for through exercise, diet and weight control.

Loose or sagging abdominal skin may result from multiple pregnancies, prior surgery, significant fluctuations in weight and can even be heredity. Abdominal contouring can include surgical procedures like abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) or liposuction. Sometimes a combination of techniques is necessary to obtain optimal results. Abdominal surgery removes excess fat and skin and in some cases restores weakened or separated muscles. This creates an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer,  enhancing your body image and confidence.

At The Center for Plastic Surgery your personal consultation will provide the best solution for excellent results.

Liposuction:

Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. A number of new techniques exist today for liposuction, also know as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, which offer patients more precise results and quicker recovery times.

Individuals considering liposuction often feel a bit overwhelmed by the number of options and techniques being promoted today, so ask your plastic surgeon to help you decide which is the right treatment for you.

Following surgery, patients will see a noticeable difference in the shape of their bodies, however, improvement will become even more apparent after about four to six weeks.

Surgery of the Abdomen:

A flat stomach is important to a physically fit appearance. However, a healthy diet and regular abdominal workouts can sometimes do little to eliminate accumulations of excess fat and loose, sagging skin in the abdominal area. If you are bothered by these appearance problems, abdominoplasty (also called a tummy tuck) may be a good choice for you.

Abdominoplasty is designed to firm and smooth the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and possibly tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall. The result is a flatter, tighter abdominal profile.

Scar Revision:

Scars - whether they are caused by accidents or by surgery - are unpredictable. The way a scar develops depends as much on how your body heals as it does on the original injury or on the surgeon's skills. Many variables can affect the severity of scarring, but how much the appearance of the scar bothers you is, of course, a personal matter.

Many scars will improve with time, and most surgeons will recommend patients wait as long as a year or more before deciding to have the scar treated. While no scar can be removed completely, plastic surgeons can often improve the appearance of a scar, making it less obvious through the injection or application of certain steroid medications, or through surgical procedures known as scar revisions.

Tattoo Removal:

Tattoos are classified as either amateur or professional tattoos. Laser treatment of unwanted tattoos is the most effective option for removal. The procedure usually requires several treatments in the office to fade the tattoo.
